Richard Yu, chairman of Huawei showed off a large phablet android smartphone in China called the Huawei Ascend Mate. From the introduction of Samsung Galaxy Note which branded the phablet concept and the enormous success it had, almost all mobile giants have tried to duplicate the success Samsung had with Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 2.Huawei seem to have gone one step further by introducing a never unheard of 6.1 inch screen in their new smartphone. It is ironic that just months ago Google and Apple announced 7 inch tablets and both were very successful.
The large 6.1 inch screen on the Huawei Ascend Mate has a pretty good 1080p resolution and it does have some good hardware inside.
Other than the extremely large display the Huawei Ascend Mate has a 1.8 GHz quad-core K3V3 processor and a 4000 mAh battery.
There is not much information about this super large phone right now but we do know that it is 9.6mm thick and its full HD screen has a 361 ppi density.
There is no information about which version of Android this beast will be running but we do know that this smartphone will be in direct competition to the other large phablets most notably the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.The Note 2 has a similar 5.5-inch screen,1.6 quadcore processor,8MP primary camera and comes with 16 GB of internal storage which can be extended with the help of external memory cards.
The Huawei Ascend Mate will be priced at CNY 3,000 which converts to about $480.Do tell us in comments how you feel about this phone.
